What I found (checked 3 November 2026)
- King Johnnie claims a Curaçao licence, but reviews quote three different numbers and four different operators, and I could not match any of them to a regulator record.
- ACMA named King Johnnie in its February 2021 round of blocked illegal gambling websites.
- Casino Guru gives a Safety Index of 7.1, “Above average”, and its complaint records show both rejected and resolved cases; Trustpilot has just one review on an unclaimed profile.
- Reported weekly caps range from A$5,000 to about A$10,000, and bank withdrawals are reported at 7 to 15 business days.
My verdict: is King Johnnie legit?
King Johnnie is a real casino with years of Australian players, published terms and a Casino Guru score in the “above average” band, so I would not call it a scam. But it fails the first test I apply: I cannot tell you who runs it or check its licence. Add ACMA’s block and slow bank payouts, and it is not a casino I would point an Australian to. If you want somewhere to play instead, my King Johnnie alternatives compare three options.

King Johnnie's own site returned "access denied" from my connection, so I could not read its footer or terms directly. Every row above names where it comes from.

ConcernLicence cannot be matchedThree numbers in reviews; an independent review found none in public Curaçao registries.
ConcernOperator unknownFour company names across reviews, and one of them is a company number, not a licence.
ConcernOn ACMA's radar since 2021Named in ACMA's February 2021 blocking announcement.
CheckableMid-range Casino Guru scoreSafety Index 7.1, with complaints both rejected and resolved.
UnclearBonus figuresFour different welcome offers quoted across review sites.
UnclearWithdrawal capsA$5,000, A$7,500 and about A$10,000 a week, depending on the source.
In practice: a licence you can look up is the minimum, not proof that a casino pays smoothly. King Johnnie does not pass that minimum.
Is King Johnnie legal in Australia?
No online casino can be licensed in Australia. The Interactive Gambling Act 2001 makes it illegal to offer online casino games to people in Australia; it targets operators, not players. ACMA blocks offshore casinos, and its February 2021 announcement named King Johnnie among the sites it asked internet providers to block after complaints.
The block works at the level of Australian internet providers. It does not close your account or freeze your balance, so if you have money there, ask support in writing how to withdraw it. I do not publish mirror addresses, VPN advice or other ways around the block.
Which website is the real King Johnnie?
Searching the name brings up dozens of sites, and most are not the casino.
| Site type | What it is |
|---|
| kingjohnnie.com | The domain on the brand’s Trustpilot profile; it refused my connection |
| Numbered domains (kingjohnnie3.com and similar) | Reported mirrors; I do not link or verify them |
| ”King Johnnie Australia” review sites | Affiliate pages, often with figures that contradict each other |
| Johnnie Kash Kings | A related brand name; see my sister sites page |
| ”King Johnny Casino” | A different casino with a different owner on Trustpilot |
In practice: when you read a King Johnnie review, check which company and licence it names before trusting its numbers.

Scores are as published on or before 3 November 2026; I did not score the casino myself. One review of King Johnnie gives its own trust scores of 1 to 3 out of 10 for licence, payments and transparency; it is editorial, not a player rating.
